The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is a massively fast all American super car. The Z06 is the performance version of the Corvette Stingray, itself not exactly a slow car. However, there is an even faster one: the Corvette Z06 with the Z07 Performance Package. This somewhat confusingly named car is basically a performance version of the performance version, and this is the car we will be discussing today. The Corvette on the photos is painted in a color called ‘Amplify Orange Tint’, which surely emphasizes the car’s performance.
The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 – Z07 Performance Package is powered by a heavily reworked variant of Chevrolet’s LT6 engine. The 5.5 liter V8 put out 670 horsepower and revs to 8600 rpm, extremely high for a naturally aspirated engine. The maximum torque is 623 Nm at 6300 rpm. The powerful motor is connected to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, sending all horses to the rear wheels. The Z07 Performance Package furthermore includes an aerodynamic body kit with a larger front splitter, front-corner dive planes, and a configurable rear spoiler. The added aero bits provide 734 pounds (322 kilo) of downforce at the Corvette’s 186 miles per hour top speed. The chassis is both lowered and widened, with a track-ready front and rear suspension design.
The tires are Michelin Sport Cup 2 R ZP, fitted with unique exposed carbon fiber wheels (2o inch front, 21 inch at the back). The carbon wheels reduce the car’s unsprung weight with 18.5 kilo, which makes for faster acceleration and stopping power. The Brembo brake system features ventilated carbon ceramic brake discs, with a front diameter of 15.7 inch (398 mm) and a rear diameter of 15.4 inch (391 mm). The brake discs are mated to six-piston front calipers and four-piston rear calipers. The brakes are cooled via the side air-inlets in the front bumper.
The enormous wing and the quad exhaust pipes make sure nobody mistakes the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 – Z07 Performance Package for a standard ‘Vette. Sadly, with so many cars of its kind, this performance Corvette is likely the very last to use petrol-only power. The next generation Chevrolet Corvette, expected sometime around 2026, will feature a plug-in hybrid power train, and the next-next generation will be fully electric.
