The Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye was already the fastest sedan in the world. But that was not enough. So Dodge made it even faster. The good old Charger has been with us for a long long time. It was launched a life ago in 2011, powered by a tiny 3.6 liter V6. Over the years, the Charger gradually grew more powerful with the addition of bigger engines. Things started to get serious with the 2012 Charger SRT8 model, which packed 470 hp. From there on Dodge got a hang of it. In 2015 they launched the first SRT Hellcat with 707 hp, and that car claimed the fastest sedan title. Sadly, it seemed that the Charger had reached the top there, because for many years the SRT8 wasn’t upgraded anymore. Until now.
The Dodge Charger finally gets the power it really needs! The 2021 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye comes with a 6.2 liter supercharged V8 gasoline engine with an output of 797 hp and 958 Nm. The size of the supercharger is 2.7 liters, larger than the entire engine of most economy cars. The manic motor is mated to an eight-speed automatic with flappy pedals, sending every horse to the rear wheels. With a curb weight of 2054 kilo and a power to weight ratio of 389 hp this car is going to be fast as hell. Top speed is 326 kilometers per our, it’ll do 0-100 in 3.4 second and the quarter mile in 10.8 seconds @ 210 km/h.
The Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye is standard fitted with a wide body kit, featuring wide wheel arches, lots of air inlets and vents, a big carbon fiber wing at the back. The bonnet is heightened to the max to house to enormous supercharger. Make it any higher and the driver won’t see anything anymore.
How to rein in so many American horses? With a set of powerful brakes. The SRT Hellcat Redeye is fitted with extra large ventilated performance brakes. At the front, the brake rotor measures 400 millimeter in diameter and 34 millimeter in width. At the rear, the brake rotor has a diameter of 350 millimeter and a width of 28 millimeter. The front brake discs are working with Brembo six–piston fixed monoblock aluminum calipers, and the rear brake disc go with Brembo four–piston fixed calipers with aluminum housing. The brake calipers are painted in fiery red and branded SRT Brembo.
The SRT Hellcat Redeye is the ultimate version of the current generation Dodge Charger, and the last of the mega large supercharged V8 cars. The next generation Dodge Charger is expected for 2023 and the top performance versions will surrender the mighty V8 for an all-new V6 PHEV setup, which, happily, will likely be more powerful still.
