The new Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 looks like the angry lovechild of a space ship and a Batmobile. But it really is an earthly car. The Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 is the ultimate track day toy, developed for competing in Lamborghini’s Super Trofeo one-make series. It is based on the chassis of the Lamborghini Huracan road car, modified almost beyond recognition. Except for the doors, not a single body panel is the same.
The Super Trofeo EVO2 comes with an outrageous body kit, scoops and ducts all over, an air duct on the roof, a shark fin stabilizer over the rear deck, a swan neck spoiler, and a large diffuser at the rear. The changes result in one of the most badass looking race cars of all time. The body is made of carbon fiber and plastics, keeping weight down to a minimum. The Super Trofeo EVO2 is powered by Lamborghini’s 5.2 liter naturally aspirated V10 engine. In race trim, output if 620 hp and 570 Nm. The motor is mated to an X-Trac six gear sequential gearbox, sending all horses to the rear wheels only. Top speed depends on track setup, but on a long strait the EVO2 will reach about 350 kilometers per hour.
The Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 is fitted with relatively small and thick Pirelli tires (305/545 front and 315/680 rear), fitted with monolock 18-inch alloy wheels, painted in black. The brakes are a tad old-school as well. The front and rear brake discs are made out of steel instead out of carbon, which is far more common these days, especially on super cars. he front and rear brake discs have a diameter of 380 millimeter and a width of 35 millimeter. At the front, the brakes are working with 6-piston calipers, at the rear with 2-piston calipers. Lamborghini likely decided to go for steel to keep operating costs low. A full Super Trofeo season consists of 10 rounds, each round consists of two 50-minute races. And a Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 isn’t a cheap car to begin with. Base price starts at $250.000, not including local taxes.
Razor sharp LED lights and a twin exhaust pipe in the center; this Huracan means business: One-make series traditionally work with series-sponsorships. Lamborghini’s Super Trofeo has long-running deals with Pirelli and with watch maker Roger Debuis. For the 2021/2022 season the series has a Chinese sponsor for the first time: Oppo, a company that started a chap-mobile phone maker and has since morphed into a consumer-tech giant.
